They began to be forged. Due to the large number of counterfeit banknotes, people still preferred to use copper and silver coins.

The banknotes usually depicted the state emblem of the Russian Empire, as well as portraits of Russian rulers. In the 20th century, the famous rulers of the state were no longer depicted on the banknotes of our country, they were replaced by a portrait of Lenin. The reverse side of the banknote depicted views of the Moscow Kremlin.
