Those were hard times and we children didn’t have much fun. My granny sometimes took me to the cinema and I loved those evenings. It was just like a visit to a brighter and happier world. Those films gave people a chance to forget their problems at least for a while. Меня зовут Глория Сэндфорд. Я была маленькой девочкой во время Второй мировой войны. Это были тяжелые времена, и нам, детям, было не особо весело. Моя бабушка иногда водила меня в кино, и мне нравились эти вечера. Это было похоже на посещение более яркого и счастливого мира. Эти фильмы давали людям возможность хотя бы на время забыть о своих проблемах. My granny turned our visits to the cinema into big adventures. I think she was the best granny in the world and told me wonderful stories about famous film stars and well-known directors. Бабушка превратила наши походы в кино в большие приключения. Я считаю, что она была лучшей бабушкой в мире и рассказывала мне замечательные истории об известных кинозвездах и известных режиссерах. My granny and I were big film fans and we really liked different kinds of movies, but my greatest love was definitely the musicals. The beautiful costumes, the lovely girls, the songs they sang, the happy endings - that wonderful world was a real contrast to the everyday life we had. Granny always brought along some sweets and she produced them just as the picture was about to start. It was absolutely fantastic - the film and the sweets. Моя бабушка и я были большими фанатами кино, и нам очень нравились разные фильмы, но больше всего мне нравились мюзиклы. Красивые костюмы, милые девушки, песни, которые они пели, счастливый конец - этот чудесный мир был настоящим контрастом нашей повседневной жизни. Бабушка всегда приносила с собой сладости и готовила она их перед фильмами. Это было совершенно фантастично - фильм и сладости. After the film we went out into the streets. Everything was in darkness. Holding hands and talking nonstop about the film, we made our way home. После фильма мы выходили на улицу. Все было в темноте. Взявшись за руки и безостановочно обсуждая фильм, мы шли домой.
