🔊 The New Globe Theatre 🔊 In 1949, an American actor Sam Wa-namaker came to London where he wanted to visit the famous Globe Theatre in which William Shakespeare had staged his plays. What he found was the place where (1b) the theatre had stood once. Wanamaker was in shock and (2f) decided to rebuild The Globe. It took many years to collect enough money and even longer to find out what the theatre had looked like in the old days. Ванамакер был в шоке и решил отстроить Глобус заново. 🔊 In June 1997, Queen Elizabeth II opened the International Shakespeare Globe Centre, a replica of Shakespeare’s theatre.
